The College is planned to function at its permanent location from the academic year 2000-2001 itself. The permanent place is adjoining the important National Highway No,.4, linking Chennai, Bangalore, Poona & Mumbai. The place, at the foot of an hillock, is surrounded by valleys and rich greenery & tanks. The top of the hillock is cool even during afternoons due to good breeze.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
Apart from the above, the following documents should be compulsorily enclosed while submitting the application.
Note: Eligibility certificate in respect of candidates coming from outside Karnataka is a must which will be issued by the Institute on payment of the prescribed fees.

INSTITUTE OF POST GRADUATE COURSES (MCA)
The
H.M.S Institute of Technology is running Master of Computer
Application (A course affiliated to Bangalore University approved
by All India Council for Technical Education) permitted by Karnataka
State Government with an intake of 30. The Institute of Post Graduate
Course is having its own computer laboratory and a separate library.
Senior experienced faculty members are invited as visiting professors
for the benefit of the students, apart from regular faculty members.
The institute is functioning in a temporary location belonging to H.M.S. Polytechnic. Plans are on the anvil to shift it to its permanent location near Tumkur. The new campus is adjoining the H.M.S. Institute of Technology with a total land area of nearly 20 acres.
REGULATION OF MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (MCA) COURSE
1. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
A Candidate with any degree of a minimum of 3 years duration, of Bangalore University or of any other University, equivalent there to with a minimum of 50 % of marks in the aggregate of all subjects including languages, if any, provided further that the candidate has studied Mathematics as a Compulsory subject for 2 years at PUC level or equivalent HSC (XII Standard) is eligible for admission to MCA Course. Relaxation to SC/ST. Group-I will be extended as per University norms.
2. ATTENDANCE:
A Candidate shall be considered to have undergone the prescribed Course of study, if the candidate has attended at least 75% of the classes in each of the subject (Theory, Lab, and Seminar).
However, the vice-chancellor may, on recommendations of Head of Institution, condone an additional 15% of attendance (i.e., between 60% and 75%) only in exceptional cases which are beyond the limit of the candidates.
A Candidate securing attendance of less than 60% has to repeat the semester.
FACILITIES
The Laboratories, Workshops and Computer Centres are fully equipped with latest equipment as prescribed in the syllabus of various branches of engineering. Good coaching and instructions by qualified teachers and instructors are made available to the students. Laboratory Manuals are prepared by the teachers concerned and distributed to all the students to facilitate easy learning of the subjects. The Computer lab was inaugurated by the honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri. S.M.Krishnaji.
Library is the focal point of the Institute, situated in the new block. The Institute is giving attention to the library, with books covering various branches of Science and Engineering, which include Text Books, Recommended Books, Hand Books, Dictionaries, Data Books etc. The Library subscribes to many technical periodicals covering all disciplines of Engineering. In addition, many general magazines and newspapers are being subscribed to.
H.M.S. HOSTEL
The Institute is running separate hostels for Boys & Girls. The hostels are managed by a Warden assisted by a Deputy Warden. The Principal of H.M.S. Institute of Technology is the Chairman of the Hostel Committees.
The Hostel rooms are provided with necessary furniture. Every hostel is adequately equipped with a vegetarian mess to it and is managed by the Mess Committee. The expenses are shared by all the boarders.
The students desirous of joining the Institute hostel have to apply to the Warden in the prescribed application form. The students admitted to the Institute hostels will have to pay an Annual fee in advance towards room rent, furniture rent, establishment charges and caution deposit as prescribed by the hostel committee from time to time (The Caution Deposit will be refunded when the student leaves the Institute). Students staying in the hostel will be responsible for the safe return of the furniture in their charge at the end of the academic year. Breakage's, and loss, if any, will be recovered from them. The students have to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the hostel.
