H.M.S Education Society, Tumkur (Karnataka) has a long history of two decades in imparting Technical, Para Medical (Physiotherapy) and General Education for the benefit of eligible candidates in India and abroad.

The Society was established during the year 1980 by veteran Educationist SRI S.SHAFI AHMED. Ex. MLA, founder and the Chairman of the Society.He is the driving force behind all the developments of the Society. To begin with, in 1980 a Polytechnic was started with just four branches. Four more branches were added subsequently. Since then, under his able leadership, the H.M.S. Education Society has never looked back. To keep pace with the new Technological developments, new Colleges and Schools were opened.

H.M.S Education Society has built three different multistoried building complex at three different places.

THE INSTITUTE

The Institute was established by the H.M.S. Education Society (Regd.) during 1997-1998 with the objective of providing Technical Education. Permission is accorded by the State Government and it is affiliated to visweswaraiah Technological University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The Institute is located in Tumkur - 60 K.M. from Bangalore towards Mumbai.

HMS POLYTECHNIC CAMPUS
It is situated on Shettihalli Road, It is a huge multi storied Complex. It has separated blocks for physiotherapy, Polytechnic, First Grade College, I.T.I and English School and a High-School. The entire Complex is constructed on five acres of land. Both the Girls Hostel and Boys Hostel are situated very near to this complex. It has spacious, ventilated class rooms and well equipped various laboratories.

HMS COMPLEX, SIRA GATE
It is situated in TUDA Layout, Kalidasa Nagar best known as Sira Gate. It has also a multistoried complex with spacious class rooms, ideal play ground and beautiful surroundings. It houses Business Management courses, Pharmacy College and English School.

The College is planned to function at its permanent location from the academic year 2000-2001 itself. The permanent place is adjoining the important National Highway No,.4, linking Chennai, Bangalore, Poona & Mumbai. The place, at the foot of an hillock, is surrounded by valleys and rich greenery & tanks. The top of the hillock is cool even during afternoons due to good breeze.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION

  • Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four years B.E. Degree Course should have passed the two years P.U.C. Examinations (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as Optional subjects)) conducted by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka State or any other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visweswaraiah Technological University and should have obtained not less than 50% of marks in the optional subjects.
  • Candidates seeking admission to First Year of the Four year B.E. Degree Course must have passed the three year Diploma Course of the Board of Technical Examination of Karnataka Government in the respective branches/courses or any other examination recognised as equivalent by the Visweswaraiah Technological University and must have obtained not less than 50% marks in the final Diploma Examinations.
  • In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST & Category I (Karnataka Students only), the minimum percentage of marks shall not be less than 40% in the optional subjects as per rules.
  • Admission will be according to reservation policy of the State Government.
HOW TO APPLY
Candidates desirous of applying for HMS Institute of Technology and HMS Institute of PFG courses (MCA) under management quota should pay in cash, an amount of Rs.300/- (if by post Rs.350/- through D.D./I.P.O/M.O) being the cost of prospectus and application, to the Principal, H.M.S. Institute o Technology, Shettyhalli Road, Tumkur-572 102. Karnataka before the last date fixed for admission by the State Government & Universities, based on entrance test and filling up of seats by the CET Cell.

Apart from the above, the following documents should be compulsorily enclosed while submitting the application.

  • Copy of S.S.L.C / S.S.C (10th) Marks Card
  • Copy of PUC (10+2) Marks Card
  • Copy of Transfer Certificate
  • Copy of Physical fitness Certificate issued by an MBBS Doctor
  • Copy of Migration Certilficate for Non-Karnataka Students
  • Caste Income along with Sindhuthwa Pramana Patra in respect of Karnataka Candidates only
  • Visa, Passport, and Political No Objection Certificate of Government of India in respect of Foreign National Students.

Note: Eligibility certificate in respect of candidates coming from outside Karnataka is a must which will be issued by the Institute on payment of the prescribed fees.

H.M.S. INSTITUTE OF POST GRADUATE COURSES (MCA)
The H.M.S Institute of Technology is running Master of Computer Application (A course affiliated to Bangalore University approved by All India Council for Technical Education) permitted by Karnataka State Government with an intake of 30. The Institute of Post Graduate Course is having its own computer laboratory and a separate library. Senior experienced faculty members are invited as visiting professors for the benefit of the students, apart from regular faculty members.

The institute is functioning in a temporary location belonging to H.M.S. Polytechnic. Plans are on the anvil to shift it to its permanent location near Tumkur. The new campus is adjoining the H.M.S. Institute of Technology with a total land area of nearly 20 acres.

REGULATION OF MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (MCA) COURSE

1. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

A Candidate with any degree of a minimum of 3 years duration, of Bangalore University or of any other University, equivalent there to with a minimum of 50 % of marks in the aggregate of all subjects including languages, if any, provided further that the candidate has studied Mathematics as a Compulsory subject for 2 years at PUC level or equivalent HSC (XII Standard) is eligible for admission to MCA Course. Relaxation to SC/ST. Group-I will be extended as per University norms.

2. ATTENDANCE:

A Candidate shall be considered to have undergone the prescribed Course of study, if the candidate has attended at least 75% of the classes in each of the subject (Theory, Lab, and Seminar).

However, the vice-chancellor may, on recommendations of Head of Institution, condone an additional 15% of attendance (i.e., between 60% and 75%) only in exceptional cases which are beyond the limit of the candidates.

A Candidate securing attendance of less than 60% has to repeat the semester.

FACILITIES

  The Laboratories, Workshops and Computer Centres are fully equipped with latest equipment as prescribed in the syllabus of various branches of engineering. Good coaching and instructions by qualified teachers and instructors are made available to the students. Laboratory Manuals are prepared by the teachers concerned and distributed to all the students to facilitate easy learning of the subjects. The Computer lab was inaugurated by the honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri. S.M.Krishnaji.

Library is the focal point of the Institute, situated in the new block. The Institute is giving attention to the library, with books covering various branches of Science and Engineering, which include Text Books, Recommended Books, Hand Books, Dictionaries, Data Books etc. The Library subscribes to many technical periodicals covering all disciplines of Engineering. In addition, many general magazines and newspapers are being subscribed to.

H.M.S. HOSTEL

The Institute is running separate hostels for Boys & Girls. The hostels are managed by a Warden assisted by a Deputy Warden. The Principal of H.M.S. Institute of Technology is the Chairman of the Hostel Committees.

The Hostel rooms are provided with necessary furniture. Every hostel is adequately equipped with a vegetarian mess to it and is managed by the Mess Committee. The expenses are shared by all the boarders.

The students desirous of joining the Institute hostel have to apply to the Warden in the prescribed application form. The students admitted to the Institute hostels will have to pay an Annual fee in advance towards room rent, furniture rent, establishment charges and caution deposit as prescribed by the hostel committee from time to time (The Caution Deposit will be refunded when the student leaves the Institute). Students staying in the hostel will be responsible for the safe return of the furniture in their charge at the end of the academic year. Breakage's, and loss, if any, will be recovered from them. The students have to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the hostel.

BANK FACILITIES

  • Karnataka Bank, S.S. Puram Branch, Tumkur has opened an extension counter in the premises of the Institute to meet the needs of the staff & students.
  • The State Bank of Mysore. Raghavendra Nagar (near to college) Branch has a counter to meet the needs of the staff & students.

SPORTS

  • The College offers facilities for sports and extra-curricular activities. The students are encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate sports programmes. Inter-collegiate Literary competitions and other extra-curricular activities are also encouraged.

TRANSPORTATION

The college is having its own transport facility for students and staff to visit various organisations like industries etc., for practical training.
